How Does Fascism Come?

  The political structure of a country shows us where its future is headed or where it will remain. There is no need for fortune-telling or seeing the future to understand this.

  The political parties of the Turkish state build their backbone on increasing their voter potential. That’s why they don’t touch anything they don’t think will bring them votes. Whether the issue concerns concepts like law or democracy is not their focus.

    The state structure built by Erdoğan was openly declared in the second half of his rule with the phrase "Erdoğan’s Country." The government is essentially like a human pyramid, constructed to keep a single man at the top – at the bottom is the people, at the very top is Erdoğan. Those at the bottom endure oppression to keep him there, while those in the middle apply pressure on the lower layers while keeping them subdued with propaganda.

    What this structure is capable of was evident during the Gezi protests, after the June 7 elections, and in the treatment of the Kurds after every election. However, the opposition and its supporters never seriously reacted. They responded with weak tweets that merely gave the illusion of protest. What they fail to understand is that "as long as they remain silent, their turn will come." They assumed that because Erdoğan suppressed Kurdish municipalities under the guise of terrorism, it wouldn't happen to them. But they still don’t realize that the fascist Erdoğan will not allow anything that threatens his power to survive.

    And now, what has happened? They have taken their mayors too, under the pretext of terrorism. The mere possibility of İmamoğlu becoming president could not prevent his large municipality from being occupied. They forgot that Erdoğan’s closest friends are dictators and murderers like Putin, Lukashenko, Orban, Aliyev, and Arab sheikhs. Of course, he will follow their path, and of course, he will leave no stone unturned to maintain his power.

    The only way out is either to rise up now and overthrow Erdoğan completely or to remain silent and continue living in "Erdoğan’s Country." Ignoring that what happened to Selahattin Demirtaş was because he threatened Erdoğan’s power, and believing that because it happened to a Kurd, it won’t happen to them, is foolishness and stupidity. Expecting a democratic response or a fair move in a fascist country is ignorance and lack of foresight.

    If they think that this will end just because İmamoğlu is merely left untouched, they are making the biggest mistake, because that means Erdoğan has already signed his death warrant. Erdoğan hasn’t only imprisoned people; he has exiled them and had them killed. If a country’s politics continue to ignore these realities and pretend as if democracy and law exist, then in "Erdoğan’s Country," they will be allowed to be opposition only as much as Erdoğan permits. And after some time, it won’t matter who is in power—this country will forever be called "Erdoğan’s Country."

    I am warning you: Either this FASCISM is stopped by overthrowing the fascist, or "Erdoğan’s Country" will be officially declared.
